In Italian folklore, La Befana is an old woman who delivers gifts to children throughout Italy on Epiphany Eve (the night of January 5th).
Now you can have your own, one of a kind, hand sculpted Befana doll, signed, dated, and numbered by the artist Jacqueline Centofanti-Diaz. (the lower the number, the more valuable in time). The doll's head and hands are sculpted from polymer clay, then painted and secured to a stitched, jointed polyester fiber-filled cloth body. She comes with a burlap sack, bag of coal, hand-made broom and a lantern. A pamphlet introduces her story. No two faces are alike! Not even the artist herself can predict exactly what each Befana will look like, for it is the final tweak of clay and the swish of paint that spark the unique expression and personality found in each wizened face.
Important- Fragile, this is a collector's item, not a toy. (clothing cannot be removed)
These beautiful dolls are completely 100% hand-made, therefore, some imperfections may be seen. There is no mold used, each face is individually hand-sculpted and painted.
Approximately 12". Comes packaged in a rustically and tightly woven sea grass keepsake basket with lid (color of basket varies),and a doll stand, or she can sit comfortably on your mantle.
Because this is a specialty, one-of-a-kind hand made collector's doll, a signature will be required by the postal service upon receipt of your package. This additional postal fee will be covered by Italian Children's Market.
